Content, Email & Social Marketing Specialist

Job Category: Content Marketing
Job Type: Full Time
Job Location: Sydney CBD

Location: Sydney CBD — Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day from home)
Type: Full-time
Salary: $100,000 + Super

About the Role

We’re working with a fast-growing tech platform on a mission to scale its reach and impact across a large, engaged user base. As they continue to grow, they’re looking for a hands-on marketing generalist to own their content and email marketing engine — someone who’s just as comfortable planning a lifecycle campaign as they are writing punchy copy, cutting a reel, or digging into the data to see what’s actually working.

The Role

We’re looking for a Content, Email & Social Marketing Specialist to join the Growth/Marketing team and take ownership of the EDM and content engine. This is a hands-on, generalist role covering email marketing (EDM strategy, build and send), content creation (written, video and social), and performance tracking. You’ll need to be a strong writer first and foremost, with solid experience running email marketing campaigns end-to-end, and either a strong grip on video editing or a genuine strength across social media platforms. You’ll be equally comfortable planning an approach and then writing the copy, building the send, filming and editing the content, and reporting on what moved the needle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Email Marketing & Lifecycle (EDM) — primary focus

  • Own the strategy and execution of the email marketing program — turning a large subscriber base into an engaged, activated audience.
  • Develop and test approaches to lift open rates, click-through, conversion and long-term engagement, rather than treating email as a one-way broadcast.
  • Own end-to-end production of newsletters and EDMs, including content planning, copywriting, design coordination, build, QA and send.
  • Segment and tailor messaging appropriately across different audience groups, and identify new activation opportunities (lifecycle triggers, re-engagement sequences, automations) as the program matures.
  • Track and report on email and subscriber performance, using data to continually optimise strategy, subject lines, send times and content.

2. Content Creation

  • Write clear, compelling, on-brand copy across email, social, web and campaign content.
  • Produce and edit video content for social and marketing channels — short-form social video, product explainers and campaign content.
  • Create content pieces such as case studies, blog posts, product updates and press releases as needed.
  • Partner with the wider team to translate product updates and launches into clear, compelling communications.

3. Social Media

  • Manage and grow the company’s presence across relevant social media platforms with a consistent content cadence.
  • Plan, create and schedule organic social content, adapting tone and format to each platform.
  • Monitor engagement and trends, and adjust content strategy accordingly.

4. Tracking & Optimisation

  • Track performance across email, content and social using analytics tools (e.g. GA4 or similar), turning data into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Run ongoing A/B tests across email and content to continually improve results.
  • Report regularly on key marketing metrics and share learnings with the wider team.

5. Special ad-hoc Projects

  • Support brand collaboration campaigns and partnership marketing content.
  • Contribute to SEO/AEO content creation as needed, supporting organic and answer-engine visibility.
  • Pick up generalist marketing tasks as a member of a small team — priorities shift, and you’ll be comfortable moving between content, strategy and ad-hoc requests.

About You

  • 3–5 years of experience in content marketing, email/lifecycle (EDM) marketing, growth marketing, or a similar generalist marketing role.
  • A strong writer above all — you can write and edit clearly and persuasively for different audiences and channels.
  • Solid, hands-on experience running EDM/email marketing campaigns end-to-end, from strategy through to build and send (e.g. Mailchimp, HubSpot, Klaviyo, Braze, or similar ESPs).
  • Video editing skills are highly regarded (e.g. CapCut, Premiere Pro, or similar) — or, alternatively, a strong, proven presence across social media platforms.
  • Comfortable tracking performance and using data to optimise campaigns — working knowledge of analytics tools (e.g. GA4, Search Console, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of SEO/AEO fundamentals is a plus.
  • Highly organised, able to manage a recurring production cycle alongside ad-hoc requests, in a small team where priorities shift.
  • Basic HTML/CSS knowledge for email or landing page troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Comfortable with a hybrid schedule: 4 days per week in the Sydney CBD office, 1 day from home.

This role is being recruited on behalf of a top-tier tech platform client of Big Wave Digital.
